Approach
At Soundhood Studio, we consider mixing to be a blend of science and art. Our goal is to guide the listener through the full emotional journey of your music. The process starts with us getting to know you and your music. We usually ask for reference tracks that capture a sound or feeling that you might be aiming for to get a clear sense of your artistic vision.
A big part of our job is to bring out the emotion and the message of your song by tuning into the story you want to tell. Some artists arrive with a clear vision, others are still exploring, wherever you are in your process you are welcome here! Mixing with us is a collaborative journey. We work in close dialogue and stay open throughout the process. Soundhood Studio was created to provide a space where musicians always feel heard and in control of their art.
Process
We start by listening with intention, connecting with the story and the music, discovering the essence of the production. What elements carry the emotional weight? What needs to shine? Which elements demand attention, and which play a supporting role? This first pass is about uncovering what is already in the track, and forming ideas about how to bring it to life.
Once we have a strong sense of the material, the technical work begins by balancing levels, sculpting frequencies, controlling dynamics, fattening sounds with compression and saturation, and creating depth and presence using tools like reverb, delay, and modulation. We want to make your music sound amazing, to stand on it's own and be something you can be proud of. We work in an acoustically treated studio, monitoring on Focal’s flagship studio monitors, tuned with external DSP and paired with an SVS subwoofer. This setup gives us a highly trustworthy frequency response curve and exceptional resolution, allowing us to make detailed decisions with confidence. When we reach a version that truly sings, we will send it to you for listening. We welcome your feedback and value your input, big or small. This is where you, as the creator, shape the mix even further through open and ongoing dialogue. We offer unlimited revisions, because your connection to the final result is what matters most.
Getting Started
We welcome projects in all shapes and sizes, across all genres; Pop, rock, jazz, singer/songwriter, indie, soul, RnB, country, blues, classical. We are here to help bring your production to life, so no matter what system you are using for production or the technical properties of your recordings, we will assist you in getting everything ready for the mixing stage.
