Hi!
I am Joachim. I’m a mixing engineer with a lifelong passion for music. I have spent years writing songs, singing, playing guitar, and being mesmerised by sound and how it has the power to affect us emotionally. After walking a more conventional path for a while, I finally chose to commit to what I love most: working with likeminded creators, and bringing their music to life through mixing; with engagement to bring out the clarity, energy, and emotional impact of the musical idea.
My approach to mixing is grounded in both musical intuition and technical precision. I am drawn to natural, dynamic-sounding mixes. Inspired by engineers like Al Schmitt and Michael Brauer. Every mix is a collaboration, and I approach each project with purpose, curiosity, and a commitment to preserving the heart of your music.
I work in an acoustically treated and tuned studio, using Focal’s flagship studio monitors, the Focal Trio 11 BE, paired with a SVS subwoofer, a setup that gives me an incredibly detailed and honest view of the frequency spectrum. I also monitor through Amphion One15s, Audeze LCD-X headphones, and Beyerdynamic DT 770s to ensure every mix translates across all listening environments. Check out the studio.
I also have a passion for mastering, and I am lucky to be working with my good friend and mastering mentor, Henning Bortne, at Oslo Mastering.

About
Henning
Henning Bortne is the founder of Oslo Mastering and a seasoned engineer with nearly three decades of experience across a wide range of genres. His deep musical understanding and broad stylistic knowledge make him a trusted and versatile mastering engineer, someone who knows how to bring out the best in every track.
Henning approaches each project with a musical ear and a creative mindset. Clients often find that their music doesn’t just sound finished after mastering, it sounds elevated. His goal is always to enhance what’s already there, with subtlety, taste, and respect for the artist’s vision.
In addition to his work at Oslo Mastering, Henning is also a recording engineer at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, where he records everything from live concerts to studio sessions. This work has made him a true expert in microphone technique and sound capture, getting the sound “right at the source.” Naturally, mixing is often part of the process, giving him a full-spectrum understanding of music production from the ground up.
Henning is educated at the Nordic School of Sound (NISS) in Oslo.
